We do have a SumoSprings kit available. Can you please tell me how much clearance in inches there is from the bottom of the frame where the bump stop mounts to the nearest point of contact?

January 2, 2019 at 3:09 pm #5023291476Alex HodschayanKeymasterHi Michael,
Let me know how the SuperSprings work out for you. Since it seems you are on both sides of the spectrum, as you go from completely unloaded to heavily loaded, it might be a good idea to consider SumoSprings to go with your SuperSprings. Hopefully the SSA28 does the job though! Let me know!

August 27, 2018 at 9:28 am #5023285280Alex HodschayanKeymasterHi there,
First, thank you for trying SumoSprings, to assist with your vehicle suspension. We’re happy to hear they’re working out so far.
I’m not too familiar with a popping sound coming from the SumoSprings, so I have a couple questions. If this is on a Ford F-53 chassis, what is the year, coach make, and coach GVWR?
If not, what is the year, make, and model of the chassis? Also, with that information, I’d like to know the part numbers of the SumoSprings kits you had installed.
With this information, we can proceed as necessary. You can also email me at peter@supersprings.com.Thank you!

July 24, 2018 at 10:01 am #5023283540Alex HodschayanKeymasterHi Tom,
Yes that should be fine. We’ve actually made that exact modification permanently on a couple other kits to ensure the necessary clearance. I recommend to move the kit forward or back first, as the SuperSprings do not have to be 100% centered. If that is not an option though, grinding the bolt head a bit would be the next best option.

June 22, 2018 at 2:01 pm #5023282792Alex HodschayanKeymasterHello,
Thank you for contacting us! Considering all components from both kits are the same excluding the actual SumoSprings, that’s a great question. We actually recently had someone call us to let us know that an he had the SSR-180-54-1 on his 18K chassis. He described his experience as “very harsh and undriveable.”
Reason being, is the -54 (yellow) density has just too much of a spring rate for an 18k chassis. That chassis wasn’t heavy enough to compress the SumoSprings, causing the rough ride.
I definitely recommend to stick with the SSR-184-40-1 for your motorhome as well. The SSA41 is usually meant to be installed on one side or the other, for motorhomes leaning to just one side. If that’s not the case, once again, I recommend going with the SSR-184-40-1.In reply to: Clearance Above Upper Frame Bracket
June 18, 2018 at 3:39 pm #5023282729Alex HodschayanKeymasterHi there,
Great question! Not much space is needed, as the brackets flex very minimally. At the very least however, there should be 3/4 of an inch of clearance to be safe. Your conclusion regarding unwanted movement is correct, as there would be a much bigger issue if that were to happen. To answer your original questions though, I’d make sure there is at least 3/4 of an inch for possible but minimal movement.

May 29, 2018 at 9:07 am #5023282341Alex HodschayanKeymasterHey there. You are correct. The SSF-170-40-2 is a two-piece unit we call SumoSprings Rebel. The two pieces are designed to allow unlimited vertical axle movement. Being able to level with one or both wheels off the ground is actually one of the reasons we designed this front kit with two pieces. The male and female ends will always be properly aligned when lowering, as they will while on the road and experiencing movement, because of the simple way they are bolted to the brackets and installed. See the installation instruction for a drawing showing the details. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.
