Upgrading your suspension with SuperSprings® is one of the easiest ways to reduce sag, improve stability, and enhance overall ride quality—without affecting your unloaded ride. Unlike airbags that need compressors or add-a-leaf kits that stiffen your suspension permanently, SuperSprings self-adjust based on load, giving you support only when you need it.
The best part? Most installations can be done in under an hour with basic tools. While this guide provides a general step-by-step overview, always refer to the installation instructions specific to your SuperSprings kit for exact hardware and mounting details.
Before You Begin: Tools & Safety
Before starting, gather the necessary tools:
✔ Socket wrench set (typically ¾”)
✔ Torque wrench
✔ Floor jack and jack stands
✔ Wheel chocks
✔ Work gloves and safety glasses
✔ Heavy-duty clamps (if required for preload adjustments)
Safety First
- Work on a flat, level surface.
- Engage the parking brake and chock the front wheels.
- Turn off the ignition and ensure all moving parts are clear.
Step 1: Prepare Your Vehicle
1️⃣ Position the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
2️⃣ Chock the front wheels to prevent movement.
3️⃣ Lift the vehicle if necessary (some installations can be done without lifting, but having the suspension slightly unloaded makes it easier). Secure the frame with jack stands.
Step 2: Locate the Leaf Springs
SuperSprings install above your existing leaf springs, using shackles that allow them to self-adjust under load.
1️⃣ Identify the factory leaf spring pack under the rear axle.
2️⃣ Inspect the mounting area to ensure there are no obstructions from brake lines, harnesses, or brackets. Adjust if necessary.
Step 3: Position the SuperSprings on the Leaf Springs
1️⃣ Place the polyurethane spring pad (PSP-12) on top of the existing spring plate, centered between the U-bolts. (If included in your kit.)
2️⃣ Position the SuperSpring on top of the PSP, aligning it with the leaf pack below.
3️⃣ Ensure the shackles are oriented correctly (typically with threaded ends pointing outward).
Step 4: Attach the Shackles & Rollers
1️⃣ Rotate the shackles downward, ensuring they sit properly on both sides of the leaf spring.
2️⃣ Use heavy-duty clamps (or a SuperSprings installation tool) to compress the SuperSpring and leaf pack together for easier alignment.
3️⃣ Insert the sleeves and HDPE rollers into the shackle mounting holes.
4️⃣ Secure with ½” hex bolts and nylock nuts, but do not fully tighten yet.
Step 5: Final Adjustments & Torque
1️⃣ Adjust the spring location to ensure at least ½” of clearance from spring clamps and other components.
2️⃣ Confirm there’s no interference with brake lines, harnesses, or the frame. If needed, re-route cables or bend brackets slightly for clearance.
3️⃣ Torque all shackle bolts to the recommended specifications (typically 35 ft-lbs, but check your specific kit instructions).
Step 6: Lower the Vehicle & Test the Install
1️⃣ Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.
2️⃣ Remove the wheel chocks.
3️⃣ Take a test drive—you should immediately notice:
✔ Less sag when carrying loads
✔ Improved stability and reduced sway
✔ A smoother ride over bumps and uneven terrain
Final Check & Maintenance
1️⃣ After 200–500 miles of driving, recheck all hardware for tightness.
2️⃣ Register your SuperSprings warranty using the included card or online.
3️⃣ Enjoy the benefits of self-adjusting suspension without needing to maintain or adjust anything!
